Chilean General to Speak at UFO Conference in Arizona
Retired Air Force General, Ricardo Bermudez, is the director of the Committee for the Study Aerial Anomalous Phenomena (CEFAA), which is a branch of the General Administration of Civil Aeronautics, Chile’s equivalent to the FAA. Bermudez says CEFAA’s mission is “to pursue solid [UFO] cases with adequate scientific data, but only if there is an indication that the safety of the aircraft might have been at risk.” Bermudez will be talking about his organization and their best cases this February at the 2012 International UFO Congress in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bermudez served as the Chilean Air Attaché in London and was Chief Commander of the Chilean Air Force’s southern area before helping found CEFAA in 1998. He was appointed as their first president until 2002 when the group was put on hiatus. CEFAA reactivated in 2010, at which time Bermudez was reinstated as director. CEFAA has an active website which lists their investigations and other activities. Among which are conferences and lectures, and the sponsoring of a book on UFOs witnessed by pilots written by Captain Rodrigo Bravo of the Chilean Army.
Bermudez was also one of several contributors to the New York Times best-selling book, UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, by Leslie Kean.
“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us” says conference co-organizer Maureen Elsberry, “this is the first time in the U.S. that such a high-ranking government official has spoken to the public about an official government sponsored UFO project. It shows how serious other countries take the subject of UFOs. It’s something they feel is worthy of official investigation.”
